Art Outside Recap

  I wanted to share my set up of my paintings that I created for Art Outside:



   There were many challenging technical issues that had to be dealt with as they came up-from 20 mph wind gusts that kept making my canopy collapse, to lighting problems---so thank full to our awesome neighbors that loaned me their extension cord so I could reach the power grid and light up my art! Then a deluge of rain!  Unfortunately-- I had to pack up my paintings early due to the impending storm that was on its way to the area. 
   The amazing encounters I had with everyone that took time to look were priceless. Seeing all the people, art and effort that goes into such a special and unique event was magical.

This sculpture was amazing under the moon! My cell phone camera does not do it justice..
                          And where else could I see a giant white snake slither by?

My latest oil painting  entitled,  "A Beautiful Poison" oil and egg tempera on masonite, approx. (16"x20").  This piece was inspired by a sad personal event in my life some years ago, and the image of  a sleeping bird, half dead/asleep came up and then I eventually combined it with the poppies, which are symbolic of sleep/death....as they languish there, there is the realization that everyone can become a slave to their poison, which can be anything in life-drugs.sex.power.food.money.,etc...it is so alluring that it is so easy to become blissfully unaware of the true state of your addiction.

Exiguus Ovum (Small Egg) Mische Technique Painting Video

Here are some pictures from a small scale painting I am creating, done in the mische technique.From sketch to finish! "Exiguus Ovum" oil/egg tempera on Masonite Dimensions: 3" x 3" 06/2015   "Exiguus Ovum" is a journalistic piece that tries to capture what I was experiencing during a traumatic time in my life due to anxieties and fears stemming from an upcoming transition.  It left me kind of stripped bare to the bone-the very foundation of my being, which is why the figure is a skeleton.  Standing in the midst of an uncertain terrain with bloodshot eyes heavily watching over, the figure presents the golden egg; a treasure found on this treacherous solitary journey symbolizing genuine attainment of knowledge of the true inner Self.

This is an experience that I will not be forgetting anytime soon. Contemplating my experience with viral conjunctivitis.

      Health is such a delicate thing. Once taken away can leave you completely blindsided at such little privileges you had taken for granted. Like being able to see clearly and function. The virus that had taken over my eye had left me in pain all day and rendered everything in a cloudy haze.  Then it spread to the other eye. I looked in the mirror. I looked into my eyes. I felt like a zombified shell of myself. My eyes were completely red and the side of my head had swelled up. My lymph node engorged golf ball size making it difficult to chew on that side of my mouth.  I had never been so scared and helpless; I downward spiraled into gloomy agitation. I couldn’t go anywhere, couldn’t really do anything that require too much eye strain, it was too painful and exhausting. Like a prison, inside myself. I finally stopped struggling and surrendered to heal on my body’s own time. Wandering in my labyrinth…What demons lay there undiscovered?  ...
