Una Noche En La Gloria 2015

This year was my first year to participate in Una Noche En La Gloria, Art in the Cultural Zone, an annual arts celebration in San Antonio.  I was accepted to participate almost last minute, and I am thrilled that I did. Very grateful to be included and for the experience.  Had a lot of fun sharing my art and meeting local artists. Took a few shots of my set up and some of the action going on around me!

My latest oil painting  entitled,  "A Beautiful Poison" oil and egg tempera on masonite, approx. (16"x20").  This piece was inspired by a sad personal event in my life some years ago, and the image of  a sleeping bird, half dead/asleep came up and then I eventually combined it with the poppies, which are symbolic of sleep/death....as they languish there, there is the realization that everyone can become a slave to their poison, which can be anything in life-drugs.sex.power.food.money.,etc...it is so alluring that it is so easy to become blissfully unaware of the true state of your addiction.

Exiguus Ovum (Small Egg) Mische Technique Painting Video

Here are some pictures from a small scale painting I am creating, done in the mische technique.From sketch to finish! "Exiguus Ovum" oil/egg tempera on Masonite Dimensions: 3" x 3" 06/2015   "Exiguus Ovum" is a journalistic piece that tries to capture what I was experiencing during a traumatic time in my life due to anxieties and fears stemming from an upcoming transition.  It left me kind of stripped bare to the bone-the very foundation of my being, which is why the figure is a skeleton.  Standing in the midst of an uncertain terrain with bloodshot eyes heavily watching over, the figure presents the golden egg; a treasure found on this treacherous solitary journey symbolizing genuine attainment of knowledge of the true inner Self.
